So I've wanted to be a pediatrician for about four years now, from since I was about 14 yrs old, and I'm making 17 and is in my last year of school, and I'm only now having second thoughts. Bad timing!!!
Apart of me want to still work towards that goal and another part of me do not want to stick with it. The biggest issue thats making me have 2nd thoughts is the fact that its about 11 years of studying, and even when thats done with, it is still very time consuming. I feel as though that its kind of robbing my youth away from me, that I wont have time for myself and enjoy being young. Also, it will be so long before me being able to work a full-time job and comfortably support myself.
My mom really wants me to stick with it because its a good job and is very rewarding. But I've also been considering teaching or claiming a good position in the bank as a career, which is less strenuous and do not come with so many years of studying. I think teaching would be fun, but I'm still not sure what I should do. Being a pediatrician is still partially in my favour but I find it hard to over look the many years of studying and time consumption.
What should I do?

Well, being happy matters most to me in life. So I'm trying to figure out which career would give me a good sizable amount of that happiness.
I need to know opinions on each job, good and bad to help me decide.

Many people change their minds. I'm 2nd year in university and I've swapped ideas several times but all within the same field.

Choose a job you'll enjoy doing and pays the bills.

Everyone has second thoughts on Career. I wanted to be a Lawyer for all of high school and then one day I decided I just couldn't handle all the stress so I'm doing a degree that I find interesting but will challenge me.

I think if you set your mind to your chosen career path then you will find the years go much quicker because you are enjoying them. I know it is a long time but imagine doing a degree in something your only mildly interested in?? I reckon you'd feel like it was never going to end.

Career decisions are such an important part of your life and making the right decision doesn't need to happen over night. You could start a course and then decide you don't particular want to follow that path. The bonus is some of those credits you achieved in that degree could even be transferred into the next degree.

Nothing you do at University is a waste. I hope you choose something that makes you happy. A lot of people nowadays choose careers with a lot of money and end up being stressed. It's not worth of the worrying.

Hope this helps!!
