Should my best friend be mad at me for this?

I honestly dont think so, but I will ask you guys.

Me and her were friends with this girl Kiera and then we stopped because she started talking bad about us because she thought we were talking about her, etc.

Well I have decided that I am done with 'hate' and people disliking me or me disliking them and I just told my best friend and now she is pissed, she is saying im unloyal and all that when im NOT. im not going to talk to that kiera girl, or even be her friend. all i did was tell her i dont hate her and that i dont want her to hate me. and now my best friend is mad, which is really stupid. what do you think? Question

she would have no right to tell you off or be at all angry if you made Kiera your new best friend
