Affirmative Action

What do you guys think of affirmative action? I am thinking especially of college admissions, where minority applicants with the exact same qualifications as a white man would be more likely to be accepted into the college. Is it right, because the country did not treat certain minorities equally for many years, or is it wrong, because it is judging based on race? other reasons? just want to know what everybody's opinion is

Race really shouldn't be an issue in deciding what students to take. If the students are equally good, then perhaps, but how often is anyone equal? It's when the standards are lower for people of different nationalities that really bothers me. If Joan gets a scholarship because she's something other than white or Asian.
