| hey so I do loads of sports. We have to do "dry land training" which is basically just working out at the gym. The thing is my trainer wants me to start taking this thing called "creatine". Its not a steroid or anything, creatine naturally occurs in the body and basically is what allows your muscles to grow. By taking this its increasing my creatine levels and therefore muscle strength/growth. I've been taking it for about a month now and theres a definite difference, but i dont know it sorta feels like its cheating you know...anyway just wanted to hear some peoples thoughts/advice. |

They're possibly going to ban Creatine from all official sports events within the next couple years.
Personally I've never been keen on creatine, I've tried several doses and brands but none have had this 'phenomenal' effect on my performance. Creatine isn't designed to 'grow' muscle by the way, it only makes them perform better thereby increasing the amount of training and reps done and so the amount of muscle grown; if you're looking for something that helps grow muscle, buy whey. |

i think its wrong
and not worth it
think of that satisfying feeling you get when you reach a new weight or whatever a goal is in the gym...
taking tablets is stupid because that hollows this feeling... and if this is hollow... whats the point?
just my opinion but i think youd have to be fairly insecure to do this long term |

That depends on the 'tablet' at hand.
Supplements such as protein powders, MRPs, stacks etc are simply putting what you'd normally need to aid training through nutrition into something that fulfills nutritional requirement without hassle.
-[Keep in mind there is a VERY big difference between nutritional supplements and performance enhancing drugs.]-
For example. After a work out, in order to refuel and recover your muscles one would need to consume an effective amount of protein, a decent amount of high GI carbohydrates, 8oz of water and little to no fat intake within 30 minutes of stopping your workout. Instead of spending time the night before cooking and preparing then racing home and heating up the meal, one can take an MRP or protein powder with a carb' complex in the changing room.
In some cases, supplements are necessary because some minerals aren't accessible through food alone. For instance; taking a ZMA (Zinc Magnesium Aspartate) supplement is almost essential for an athlete who needs to maintain muscle and prevent catabolism for the reason that getting the necessary amount of magnesium through nutrition is virtually impossibly.
On a similar note, what about people who take multi-vitamins every day? Could you say that it's cheating to make sure you're getting in the essential minerals that make your body tick?
Personally I only use 3 types of supplements and swear by them. I'm very anti-steroids. |

| I'm not a body builder either, just a guy interested in fitness. As you may be able to tell, I'm an avid researcher into this sort of thing. |

| I wouldn't be surprised if Simon Pegg makes it big with the US crowd within the next year or so |

| Hot fuzz was the first movie to be properly relised in the US. Give him time, he's a yank at heart. You can tell from his commedy style. |
