I'm pretty sure the college system is slightly different over here than in the UK. However, I am thinking about whether to get a bachelor's degree in radiology at a university or get two associate degrees at a community college. If I get the two associates, then I'll try to get a bachelor's at a nearby college.
The two associates would be a Registered Nursing Program and a Radiography Program. Combined, I'd be taking about 30 semester credit hours for 4 semesters plus 5 courses over two summers. A semester hour for high school students equals approximately an hour in time. The hardest part probably would be the required practice at the hospital if I receive two different hospital assignments. However, being a registered nurse and a licensed radiographer/radiologist from an accredited college would probably appeal to many hospitals.
However, I'd be living at home, but then I could walk or ride my bike to the college because it's less than a half a mile away plus I already have a job here.
If I go to the university a few hours away, I'd only be able to afford the bachelor's degree as I'll have the cost of living on campus and the cost per credit hour is more expensive. I'd be getting away from the old town, but I'd only be in the radiology program at the university. I have a few friends who attend school there, but the program is not accredited at this college. However, the college is known for it's medical programs and I'd have to pass a national exam anyway to be licensed. The credit hours would be the typical workload and I might be able to get a scholarship if I enter the honors program.
Thoughts? What would you do if you were in this position? |

| I decided a long time ago. If I was still deciding, I would be in serious trouble. |
