You have to look at all the social groups to answer that.
And the answer is still no. |

| The fact that the nerd group is selected in a way diffent to all the other social groups you can't really compair them to anyone. |

| Are there really nerds existing still? There are some dirty kids, but those don't really fit into the classic unpopular, brainy kid. |

To be a nerd is to fit into a certain stereotypical catagory.
To be popular opens up a horizon of social groups that could invariably be classed into even more sub-groups, including certain brands of nerd.
Be more specific, shantiniqueeweddle. |

Basically a nerd is someone who study and read a lot and do well in academics. A popular person is one who every one seem to know because they are in the spot light a lot and are good at socializing with others. At my school, there are many popular nerds, because they are well socially interacted as well as really smart.
I don't think that either group should be singled out. Firstly, what is wrong with doing really well in school most of the time??? That's a good thing, it shows that the person wants to do well in life and just works hard at it, and no one should be annoyed with it, its their life, they're just not wasting their time.
Secondly, nothing is wrong with being popular, it just flips things a bit when popular people look down on others and think they're better than everyone. That's being real stuck up and conceited. |

i know a lot of ridiculously smart people who are ridiculously popular
i dislike saying this (because of how it sounds that im saying it myself) but i do really well in school and am involved in academic stuff like debating
id also say that im popular in school
this is true for a LOT of my friends
but again... id consider a nerd someone who thinks themselves ridiculously smart and is arrogant about it... also someone who has the audacity to put themselves above others ie "you have to be smart to do X" |
