Should it be taught in the classroom? I see it as not a science and many researchers don't view it as a valid science because they do not follow traditional scientific methods. Scientists generally put their views out for the scientific community before writing textbooks and going to the public. Plus, most scientific theories (which is different than a "theory") typically don't try to prove themselves by assuming that only two options are available so if they prove the first one invalid, then the second one is automatically valid.
Plus pointing at an object and screaming that people can't say how such an organ/system/whatever could not evolve by chance is silly. |

I don't see the point in teaching eather.
They used to teach that glass flowed, it was a theory baced on the fact that the glass in very old buildings (european churches mainly) was thicker at the bottem than at the top.
It turns out that in the time that the old glass was made they were unable to make flat glass, so you would put the glass thick side down.
If you can't prove it, don't teach it. |

| But it's okay to ignore the evidence that points to evolution? |

In the same degree that you ignore other theorys, yes.
The point is, what do you gain from teaching evolution or the creation myth or the big bang.
Next year there could be a new convincing theory on any one of a number of subjects and schools could start teaching that.
Thousands of people wouldn't be told that the offical state theory had been changed and ... it wouldn't make a jot of differnce. Doesn't that tell you how usefull theorys are?
Heres the thing, school is ment to set you up for life, teach you skills that will help you.
Teaching unproved theorys is a waste of our time. |

| school teaches conformity, not useful life skills. what am i going to do with knowing how to play an instrument or read lines from a book for a play? i do know i should raise my hand, write my name on the upper right hand corner, and double check to make sure the teachers aren't standing right there when i punch a kid in the side. |

| what else shall we teach? those idiots bitch about congress opening up with a hindu prayer, i worry about what they'll do if they teach the hindu creation myth. maybe burn the school down? americans are already behind the rest of the world with science, might as well show it blatantly by teaching what no other country teaches. |
