| I have some friends who are underage. But they drink. Do you think the drinking age in the US (21) should be lowered? |

I dont stay in the us, so i guess I have no right to vote.
Anyway in my country the legal age to drink is 18.
In my opinion drink underage is okay, as long as your are responsible and your parents allowe you to do so. But at the same time not too young... |

Because a bunch of stupid teenagers break the rules? Lets see how that works for other rules.
Oh, people think that murder should be legal. And since they do it anyways, why not?
Nope. Not quite. |

I think that murder and having a drink are to far apart to be compaird in this case.
I drink a bit and I don't care what the goverment wants me to do, so do what you want nothing will change
Drinking rules are made by people who they don't affect, and therfor shoudn't have a say |

Yes and no. It should be eighteen, but then there might be an increase in stupid and reckless behavior. Maybe it would be better to leave it to the states without the federal government blackmailing them. However, eighteen would be about college-age and a lot of college students already drink. I'm not saying that people under eighteen do not already drink.
It seems kind of funny that a person can (legally) have sex, get married, drive a machine that can kill them, join the military, and vote, but we can't trust them to drink. |

| I think the drinking age is fine where it is. Not like most kids are going to follow that law anyways... |

Americans don't let their children drink until they're 21. They don't let their children have sex until they're 18.
With a bottle of cider every Friday night, a teen will damage their liver. With underage sex they'll suffer the small(at their age) chance of recieving an STI.
Americans let their children drive at 15.
With a car, a teen can;
•Run over pedestrians
-kill
-injure
-seriously injure
•Crash the car
-Major
-Minor
-Serious
•Put ANYONE in the car with them at risk
-Minor
-Major
-Serious
ANYONE can drink underage. Find a guy who'll buy you alcohol, an older friend, an unresponsible adult, whatever. Drinking underage is simple.
Having sex is much the same. A willing partner is all you need. Maybe if you're not being reckless, buy some condoms which isn't any trouble.
Best thing is, these can go un-noticed.
Now take driving. How do you get a car? You're certainly too young to afford one yourself so buying one is out of the question. Find a stationary car. It's locked? 2 options; break in by force, steal the keys. Well done, you've just broken the law. now, get the car rolling, away you go. "OMG, this is so cool!", you think to yourself. You get a bit fool hardy, too cocky. What do ya know? You've caused a serious crash, you came out with 2 broken legs, you passenger is dead and the 2 children in the car you hit are dead. Well-f*cking- done.
Well....that's the situation when you're not allowed to drive.
So give that 15 year old teen a licence to drive and, hey! You've just eliminated all but one stage of the crash process!
Personally, I think drinking is the least of your country's problems. |

Cider, I'll assume the hard cider and not regular apple cider?
As for saying kids can't afford their own car, about a fourth of my high school class has bought their own car and they're seventeen to fifteen. Of course, most are lucky and drive their parents' second or third car.
State requirements for a full license vary from state to state and about 1/10 will let a fifteen-year-old have a full license. Teenagers also need to be able to drive because it would take forever and be too costly to have buses service enough of an area to get teenagers into town and back to their houses such as mine. It takes about three hours to walk to town with a forty-five pound bag in pleasant weather.
As for drinking age, I guess I am currently leaning towards it should be slowly lowered to eighteen. |

| Does it really matter what the legal age is? Its not that hard to get alcohol even if you're underage. Hell, the legal age could be 50 and they'd still drink in college, in highschool, ect. |

| Actually, it does matter. If a person hosted a college party and teenagers under 21 went there and started to drink, the person who hosted the party would be liable for them regardless of whether or not they knew the teenagers. |

| You can join the US military by age 17, yet you can't drink until 21. That doesn't make sense to me. |

Over twenty percent of all traffic fatalities in the United State each year are caused by drunk drivers. Many of these crashes cause fatality. How is this NOT murder?

How so? And who should have a say? Teenagers who are too stupid to know what kills? |

It's considered murder or manslaughter or whatever regardless of whether or not you're at the legal drinking o age. |
