I think it's alright to revive this kind of topic, since it's a helpful topic and new posts only provide more helpful tips to people. Proceed with the revival (just don't get off-topic or it'll be locked).

Social people= A study group
Independent people= A study at the library

I always thought of that.

As a child, I had trouble with Math. To get good at Math, you need to practice and do problems you've already done over again.

I used to hate it.

in the uk our whole school system is different, even scottish and english schools are completley different so some of this probably wont help, but it might Very Happy

English:
Dont leave an essay to the last minute. For me my essay folio was a third of my overall grade, so quickly doing them really wasnt an option. (these aren't exam essays btw). Plan well, know what quotes to use, get a healthy amount of relevant background information and always link to the question.

For stuff like close reading, i found reading newspapers and actually thinking about the articles really helped. Think about the techniques the author used, how they were effective and what emotions they evoked. This also helps when your writing discursive or arguementitive essays.

Maths:
Do problems over and over again, until you know them backwords. And always go back, because in math when you're learning such a vast amount of stuff, its easy to forget things.

Biology:
learning your suitable vocab is the best thing to do for biology. You wont be able to answer a question on osmosis if you cant remember what it means!

Cooking/Home ec:
help out at home as much as you can. chop veg for your mum, offer to make dinner, anything that is practice.

Accounting and Fianance(obscure i know):
Know what your numbers mean! Its pointless doing a budget if you dont know the effect it will have. Same for being able to read balance sheets and interperet them, as you will be asked this. This is especially true for your profitability ratio's.

General:
I personally copy my notes out into a new notebook. I write them out in a clear way that i understand and highlight any tricky bits. I carry this notebook everywhere i go and read over my notes whenever i can. This is also helpful for inbetween exams.

For students in the UK, past papers! The biggest help ever. They show you exactley what the exam paper will look like, and draws your attention to any bits you need to look over.

For scottish modern studies and history students your enquiry skills must not be overlooked! They account for 60% of your grade! Learn how to answer each one and practice.
